What would happen to our faith if the basis for it weren’t actually true? How would we cope if we discovered that God wasn’t sitting up in heaven arranging the chips to fall only in good places for us?
My wife and I managed to sneak into Queen’s Wharf for the opening of the Rugby World Cup. It was a sensational experience as we watched the Waka, listened to Dave Dobbyn and the Finn brothers (amazing!), and watched the haka, the opening ceremony and the amazing fireworks.
You know, kids normally need lots of time, but sometimes it just isn’t possible to give them all the time we’d like to, eh? In fact, I was talking with a dad who had to be on the road 60 hours a week if he wanted to keep his job.
Politicians are never the brightest bulbs in the national string. If they were, they’d be in private business making a great deal more money than they do in Parliament.
I lost a very dear friend last week. We had known each other for only a few years but we got together regularly to talk about life and faith and all sorts of other things.
