In his 14th book, Tauranga’s George Bryant examines the lives of Kiwis who have overcome life’s traumas and moved on to help others.
Trial to Triumph was launched in Tauranga on July 9 and at an event attended by 60 people at the Birkenhead Public Library on Auckland’s North Shore on July 16.
Some of the stories are of well-known Kiwis but most are of ordinary people who have worked out how to cope with life under extraordinary circumstances, whether they were born with a congenital defect, suffered extreme abuse, contracted a terminal disease or been paralysed in an accident.
Bryant’s aim was to inspire the reader by showing how they triumphed over personal tragedies. He examines the undaunted human spirit — what it is that makes human beings tick when the chips are down.
“Over the years I’ve spent much time wondering about and probing what people are doing on this planet and why. In this book, I try to fathom and look into what makes people tick when the human spirit is under great stress…The things I discovered were remarkable, and filled me with awe and admiration for the people. It also renewed my awe of God, who has given all people the tools to endure the darkest times.”
“Thousands of people will identify with what they read … because they have either passed through similar trials or know family and friends who have done so.”
