Trial to Triumph

This book should be read for what it is — not for what it isn’t. Although written by a well known Christian writer it is not a ‘Christian book’.
It is in no way presenting the Christian faith as the only answer to the 21 stories of amazing courage, tenacity and hope that have made these people superb over-comers.
Faith is indeed a significant element in most of the stories and some (but not all by any means) attribute their overcoming to their commitment to Christ.
I really appreciated the way George Bryant has let each of these Kiwi sufferers tell their own stories. He is essentially an interviewer and this makes for very gripping reading. I personally get a lot from the Sunday morning ‘Attitude’ programme and this book reminds me very much of that.
Bryant has stimulated me both to appreciate the greatness of the human spirit and to stop me moaning and groaning about the relatively minor struggles I may have.
This book is a good read. Each chapter is self contained and can be read in any order.
Some of the people in the book are well known — some I had never heard of before. I would like to see this book in secular as well as Christian bookshops.
It is the sort of book that would appeal to anyone and would be a good choice for you to give to someone needing a more positive outlook on life.
