CLOSE BOND: Team members gelled right from the beginning on their recent mission trip to India.
Eyes opened to different way of life
A team from Global Nulife Ministries spent the first six weeks of 2012 on a mission trip to India.“Going to India was a life-changing experience for me; I have a different look on life now. It showed me that people in India desperately need help with important needs like housing, food and medicine,” says team member Margaret Dustin. “To be in a team of people I didn’t know was a bit scary, but we had a great time together, we all gelled from the beginning and had lots of laughs and experiences. I really recommend the trip for everyone. Age is not a barrier. Three ladies were in their 70s, two in their 50s and one as young as 21.”
Ms Dustin wasn’t the only one to be greatly encouraged by other people on the team.
“I was so blessed by the unity that was among the team as we all came from such different backgrounds,” says Laura McGeorge. “The Indian pastors and their families that we stayed with much of the time just wanted to serve us because they knew we had come so far at a cost to minister to their people in song, teaching, prayer and drama, as well as financial support. It was great to witness what Global Nulife had achieved in making the quality of people’s lives easier by supplying fresh drinking water and housing people with leprosy.”
Founder and director Nancy Dykes reports that the 11-strong team visited House of Hope Orphanage in Narsapur, a Slum ministry and Leprosy project in Bangalore and Global’s children’s home in Chennai, as well as visiting villages and holding leaders’ seminars. “The team of 11 that the Lord put together was great value and there was unity and good fruit as a result of our visit,” she says.
